Typical structure of decanter centrifuge drum

The decanter centrifuge, often referred to as the 'decanter,' is ingeniously crafted with crucial components like the drum, screw, differential, frame, and cover. During its operation, the drum and screw harmoniously rotate in the same direction at a meticulously controlled differential speed.

Material is continuously fed into the spiral inner cylinder through the feed pipe, where it is rapidly accelerated into the rotating drum. Within this dynamic environment, centrifugal force exerts its power on the material, compelling the denser solid substances to settle onto the drum's wall, forming a distinct sediment layer. The screw adeptly transports the sludge towards the drum cone's end, where it is efficiently expelled from the machine through the designated discharge port.

Concurrently, the lighter liquid phase forms a seamless inner liquid ring that effortlessly spills out via the overflow port at the drum's larger end, eventually draining from the machine through the drain port, thus accomplishing seamless liquid-solid two-phase separation or liquid-liquid-solid three-phase separation.
