Typical structure of decanter centrifuge drum

A Decanter centrifuge, often referred to simply as a 'decanter', is ingeniously composed of multiple key components: the drum, screw, differential, frame, and cover. The drum and screw majestically rotate in the same direction but at a distinct differential speed, orchestrating a precise and efficient separation process.

Material seamlessly enters the spiral inner cylinder through the strategic feed pipe, then accelerates into the rotating drum. Under the formidable influence of centrifugal force, heavier solid substances are elegantly deposited on the drum wall, forming a compact sediment layer. The screw diligently pushes this sludge towards the end of the drum cone, where it is smoothly discharged from the machine through the designated discharge port.

Meanwhile, the lighter liquid phase gracefully forms an inner liquid ring, continuously overflowing from the drum's larger end through the overflow port. It elegantly drains out of the machine via the drain port, achieving sophisticated liquid-solid two-phase separation or intricate liquid-liquid-solid three-phase separation.
