Typical Structure of Decanter Centrifuge Drum

The decanter centrifuge, or 'decanter,' is an engineering marvel, featuring key components like the drum, screw, differential, frame, and cover. During operation, the drum and screw rotate together at a specific differential speed for enhanced efficiency.

Material is introduced into the inner spiral cylinder via the feed pipe, accelerating swiftly into the rotating drum. Here, centrifugal force causes denser solids to settle along the drum wall, forming a sediment layer. The screw guides this sludge to the drum cone's end, where it's expelled through the discharge outlet.

Meanwhile, the lighter liquid forms an inner liquid ring, cascading through the overflow port at the drum's larger end. This liquid drains from the machine via the drain port, achieving perfect liquid-solid two-phase or liquid-liquid-solid three-phase separation.
