Typical Structure of Decanter Centrifuge Drum

Ingeniously crafted, the decanter centrifuge-often affectionately referred to as the 'decanter'-comprises essential components including the drum, screw, differential, frame, and cover. In operation, both the drum and screw rotate synergistically, maintaining a precise differential speed to maximize efficiency.

Material is seamlessly introduced into the inner spiral cylinder through the feed pipe, where it is promptly accelerated into the swiftly rotating drum. In this dynamic setting, centrifugal force propels the denser solid particles to the drum's wall, forming a clear sediment layer. The screw methodically advances this sludge towards the drum cone's endpoint, where it is expertly expelled from the machine through the designated discharge outlet.

Simultaneously, the lighter liquid phase creates a graceful inner liquid ring, cascading effortlessly through the overflow port located at the drum's larger end. This liquid then elegantly exits the machine via the drain port, achieving impeccable liquid-solid biphasic or liquid-liquid-solid triphasic separation.
