Typical Structure of Decanter Centrifuge Drum

The Decanter centrifuge, often referred to simply as the 'decanter', is ingeniously crafted with key components such as the drum, screw, differential, frame, and cover. These elements work in harmony as the drum and screw rotate at a specialized differential speed in the same direction.

Materials are continuously fed through the spiral inner cylinder via the feed pipe, then accelerated into the rotating drum. Under the powerful influence of centrifugal force, denser solid substances settle against the drum walls, creating a sediment layer. The screw diligently moves the sludge towards the drum cone's end, where it is efficiently expelled through the discharge port.

The lighter liquid phase gracefully forms an inner liquid ring, which effortlessly spills from the drum through the overflow port at the drum's larger end. This liquid is then drained away, achieving either a refined liquid-solid two-phase separation or a sophisticated liquid-liquid-solid three-phase separation process.
