Typical Structure of Decanter Centrifuge Drum

The decanter centrifuge, fondly referred to as the 'decanter,' is ingeniously engineered from pivotal elements such as the drum, screw, differential, frame, and cover. During its operation, both the drum and screw engage in simultaneous rotation in the same direction, maintaining a specified differential speed for optimal performance.

Material is consistently channeled into the spiral inner cylinder through the feed pipe, where it undergoes acceleration into the spinning drum. Within this environment, centrifugal force becomes the guiding principle, urging denser solid particles to gravitate towards the drum's wall, thereby forming a sediment layer. The screw dynamically propels this sludge toward the drum cone's end, ensuring efficient discharge from the machine via the designated discharge port.

Concurrently, the lighter liquid phase forms an inner liquid ring, which gracefully overflows through the port at the drum's larger end. This seamless process enables the fluid to exit the machine through the drainage port, facilitating effortless liquid-solid two-phase separation or, if needed, liquid-liquid-solid three-phase separation.
