Typical Structure of Decanter Centrifuge Drum

The decanter centrifuge, commonly referred to as the 'decanter,' comprises key components such as the drum, screw, differential, frame, and cover. The drum and screw rotate synchronously in the same direction at a differential speed.

Material is consistently fed into the spiral inner cylinder via the feed pipe, then accelerated into the rotating drum. Centrifugal force causes heavy solid substances to settle on the rotating drum wall, forming a sediment layer. The screw mechanism diligently pushes the sludge toward the drum cone end, discharging it through the designated port.

The lighter liquid phase forms an inner liquid ring, continuously overflowing from the drum through the big end's port, and drains out via the designated port. This process achieves efficient liquid-solid two-phase or liquid-liquid-solid three-phase separation.
