Typical structure of decanter centrifuge drum

The decanter centrifuge, affectionately referred to as the "decanter," is meticulously engineered from primarily essential components, including the drum, screw, differential, frame, and cover. During operation, the drum and screw harmoniously rotate in unison in the same direction at a precise differential speed.

Material is consistently introduced into the spiral inner cylinder via the feed pipe, where it is swiftly accelerated into the spinning drum. Within this dynamic environment, centrifugal force draws the denser solid materials to the drum's wall, resulting in a compact sediment layer. The screw diligently advances the sludge towards the drum cone's end, where it is seamlessly expelled from the machine through the designated discharge port.

Simultaneously, the lighter liquid phase forms an effortless inner liquid ring, which gracefully exits through the overflow port at the drum's larger end, eventually draining from the machine through the drain port, thereby achieving flawless liquid-solid two-phase or liquid-liquid-solid three-phase separation.
