Typical structure of decanter centrifuge drum

The decanter centrifuge, often simply termed the 'decanter,' is masterfully crafted with key apparatus such as the drum, screw, differential, frame, and cover. In operation, both the drum and screw rotate in concert, maintaining a precise differential speed to ensure peak performance.

Material is seamlessly introduced into the inner spiral cylinder through the feed pipe, where it swiftly accelerates into the rotating drum. Here, centrifugal force drives the denser solid particles to the drum's wall, forming a distinct sediment layer. The screw assiduously moves this sludge toward the drum cone's endpoint, where it is expertly expelled from the machine via the designated discharge outlet.

Concurrently, the lighter liquid phase elegantly forms an inner liquid ring, effortlessly cascading through the overflow port at the drum's larger end, gracefully draining from the machine through the drain port. This process achieves an impeccable liquid-solid two-phase or liquid-liquid-solid three-phase separation.
